Where is Salt Folk based?
Salt Folk is proudly based in Northern Tasmania, in the heritage city of Launceston. This charming region is one of our greatest sources of inspiration, with its century-old homes, locally owned businesses, rich history, and slower pace of living.
While we don't currently have a storefront, you can find our products through a growing collection of stockists who proudly showcase our Tasmanian-made room sprays, hand creams, and home fragrance collections.
Are your products made in Tasmania?
Absolutely. Every Salt Folk product is handmade in Tasmania.
We choose not to outsource our manufacturing, allowing us to create each product in-house from start to finish. This hands-on approach ensures consistent quality, careful attention to detail, and the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients in every batch. By keeping production local, we're able to maintain the standards and authenticity that Salt Folk is known for.
What is the difference between an essential oil room spray and a fragrance room spray?
Both essential oil and fragrance room sprays have their own unique qualities, but at Salt Folk we choose to work exclusively with pure essential oils.
Fragrance oils offer a wider variety of scents, making it possible to create aromas such as vanilla, caramel, or chocolate that are difficult to achieve naturally with essential oils. Essential oils, however, are derived directly from plants, flowers, herbs, and citrus fruits, bringing the authentic scents of nature into your home.
Our blends are inspired by the Tasmanian landscape and crafted from carefully selected botanicals to create a fresh, natural atmosphere. Rather than overpowering a space, essential oils offer a more nuanced scent experience that many people find calming, uplifting, or grounding.
If you love the aromas of native botanicals, florals, herbs, and citrus, essential oil room sprays offer a natural alternative to synthetic fragrances.
Are your room sprays safe to use around children and pets?
When used as directed, our room sprays can be enjoyed in homes with children and pets. However, like all products containing essential oils, we recommend using them thoughtfully and in well-ventilated spaces.
Our room sprays contain a lower concentration of essential oils than many diffuser blends, but we still suggest misting the air rather than spraying directly onto skin, bedding, toys, pet areas, or food surfaces.
When using around pets, ensure they can comfortably leave the room if they choose. We also recommend avoiding frequent use in enclosed sleeping spaces such as cots, nurseries, pet beds, or areas where children and pets spend extended periods of time.
At Salt Folk, we choose pure essential oils over synthetic fragrance oils. While essential oils are naturally derived from plants, every household and animal is different, so we encourage customers to use their discretion and consult a veterinarian or healthcare professional if they have specific concerns.
